For any who are interested- uploaded some new stuff to the films section; a lot of footage from 'Mark Baylor' and a clip from 'Football's Coming Home'
Within the next week... will have a load of stuff for 'The Other Girl' on the Upcoming Projects part of the site.

The Mark Baylor ending, when you showed me the script I thought it was rushed and uninspirational, but just seeing it in the clips it actually looks really good, I think you grabbed that one from the jaws of defeat mate... have a little faith, I just might next time. Oh and I loved the music in the football clip, Jazz uncool? c'mon with Jamie Cullum and Katie Melua, jazz is on the cutting edge of cool, have a little faith.

Michael Buble went double Platinum and he's not mainstream yet... give it a couple of good albums and a bit of luck Katie Melua, Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, any emerging Jazz artists will be huge. Jazz and funk will have huge influences on next years artists... have a lttle faith.

Paul- I agree. Those shaky shots were filmed more steadily, but with bad takes. Should have taken more care to make sure I have the right footage, I think. Need to learn from my mistakes.
Michael Buble is one of the worst singers i've ever come across. His horrid, horrid covers of other people's music is completely embarassing.. he sings with no soul.. and... aghhhhh.. horrid. Norah Jones is awesome though, pissed that I was ill when I had tickets to see her in early 2002.. before she got all big. Not listened to much Jamie Callum.. but wasn't a fan of his radio stuff. A lot of this modern stuff passing for jazz I can't really get into... I dunno, it's like filtered down junk... it's like pop music but without the pop... just a nice voice singing effortlessly and boringly to some nice tune.. it doesn't do anything.. and the whole principle of Jazz is surely to be more evocative.
"A style of music, native to America, characterized by a strong but flexible rhythmic understructure with solo and ensemble improvisations on basic tunes and chord patterns and, more recently, a highly sophisticated harmonic idiom"
After reading that, I don't think you can call these pretty post-2000 smooth radio friendlies jazz, can you? I dunno. I actually really like Norah Jones.. and Katie Melua has an amazing voice.. just, I dunno.. so much of this kind of stuff out now is just so bland and so what-you-hear-in-the-background-at-starbucks that it just seems completely pointless and uninspired.
(is this now me inciting a 'genre' war like the other thread? haha. hopefully not). I tend to lose all music debates when people find out my favourite musicians are Counting Crows and Bruce Springsteen.. so maybe I should just stick to.. I dunno... drinking tea.

Yer Cullum I don't particuarly like, Buble - I certainly didnt wouldn't his album... but Jones and Melua have fantastic voices and sing gorgeous songs.
Unfortunetly/fortunetley the days of someone playing a sax and singing with a gravley voice as the classification of Jazz won't sell anymore, thats what Jones, Cullum etc they are being plugged as and thats what the call themselves, easy listening/jazz whatever... im pretty sure "Jazz" will be huge.

The clip of the 'footballs coming home' film is pretty cool, maybe if you get enough demand you can upload the whole film . The sites coming on nicely and the number of films is growing so its all good. Nice Job.
